Sports and Massage Therapist
James is an experienced Sports Massage Therapist graduating from the University of Gloucestershire in 2018 with a Masters degree in Sports Therapy. Working primarily from a Chiropractic and Sports injury clinic based in Gloucester, James is passionate about Massage Therapy as a treatment for a range of both sporting and non sporting musculoskeletal conditions. Graduating initially from Loughborough University in 2011 with a Sport Science & Management degree, James had a successful business career in sales and recruitment, before combining his people skills with his passion for athletics by becoming a Sports Therapist.
During James’ studies he completed a wide range of clinical placements including private physiotherapy clinics, Birmingham City Football club and within the physiotherapy and rehabilitation department of car manufacturer, Honda. James is qualified in manual therapy techniques such as peripheral joint mobilisations as well as exercise rehabilitation, more recently completing a course in Dynamic sports taping.
As a competitive athlete, James fully understands the frustrations of being injured, and is committed to helping people with sporting and non-sporting injuries back to full fitness. Injuries that he has suffered with himself, and that he has a particular interest in, include patellar tendinopathy, patella femoral pain, pes anserine tendinopathy, medial tibial stress syndrome, shin splints, ITB syndrome, & plantar fasciitis.
Outside of clinic, James was a national standard middle distance athlete as a junior, competing for his county at the English Schools Track and Field Championships. He also represented Loughborough University at the British Universities Cross Country Championships. Currently he is a key member and team manager of Bromsgrove and Redditch Athletics Club competing in a variety of events and recently set a club record in the Welsh Castles Road relay.
